What is a Critical Illness?
If you have an active Koodo Bill Payment Protection plan, you may be eligible for benefits if you are diagnosed with one of the covered critical illnesses after your coverage becomes effective and all policy requirements are met.
A diagnosis alone does not automatically qualify for benefits. Claims are reviewed based on the terms of the Certificate of Insurance.
Covered Critical Illnesses
The following conditions are covered:
- Cancer (life-threatening)
- Heart Attack (acute myocardial infarction)
- Stroke (cerebrovascular accident)
- Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
- Major Organ Failure requiring Transplant
- Major Organ Transplant
- Kidney Failure
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Paralysis
- Blindness
- Deafness
- Loss of Speech
- Aortic Surgery
- Benign Brain Tumour
- Coma
- Loss of Limbs
- Motor Neuron Disease (including ALS)
- Parkinson's Disease and Specified Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders
- Severe Burns
Important to know
Being diagnosed with one of the conditions listed above does not automatically mean a benefit will be paid.
To qualify:
- Your coverage must have been active before the diagnosis.
- Your condition must meet the definition in the Certificate of Insurance.
- Your claim must satisfy all policy terms, conditions, and exclusions.
Each claim is reviewed individually.
