📄 How to Make a Claim – Telus Bill Payment Protection

If you’ve lost your job and need to make a claim under your Telus Bill Payment Protection plan, here’s everything you need to know — from waiting periods to what’s covered (and what’s not).

⏳ 30-Day Waiting Period

Before you can receive benefits, you must be involuntarily unemployed for more than 30 consecutive days. Claims submitted before this waiting period ends will not be eligible.

✅ What’s Covered

If eligible, your coverage can help by making monthly payments toward your Telus service while you’re unemployed. To qualify, you must have been:

  • A Canadian resident over 18
  • Working full-time (25+ hours/week) at the time of job loss
  • Employed on a permanent basis
  • Covered under the policy at the time of loss
  • Registered for Employment Insurance (EI) within 15 days of losing your job
  • Actively seeking work and able to provide proof if requested

🚫 What’s Not Covered

You can’t make a claim if your unemployment was due to:

  • Job loss within the first 30 days of coverage
  • Voluntary resignation
  • Being fired for cause
  • Seasonal employment ending
  • Strikes or lockouts
  • Disability (covered under a separate benefit)
  • Parental, maternity, or caregiver leave
  • Retirement (voluntary or mandatory)
  • Criminal charges or incarceration
  • Any exclusion listed under “General Exclusions” in the policy
