✅ How to Qualify for Telus Bill Payment Protection & Claim Qualifications
Telus Bill Payment Protection offers financial support when you're unexpectedly out of work — but certain eligibility requirements and conditions must be met to qualify for coverage and submit a claim.
To get coverage, all of the following need to be true:
• You live in Canada
You’re a Canadian resident and at least 18 years old when your coverage starts.
• You’ve got an active Telus service
Your Telus account needs to be current and in good standing at the time you lose your job.
• You had a steady job before this
You were:
– Covered under the policy, and
– Working 25+ hours a week in a permanent, full-time job.
• You’ve been unemployed for 30+ days
That’s the minimum waiting period before benefits kick in.
• You’re registered for EI
– Your employer was paying EI premiums to the CRA.
– You applied for Employment Insurance within 15 days of becoming unemployed.
• You’re actively job hunting
You’re:
– Available to work full-time, and
– Able to show proof that you’re looking for work if asked.
• No recent Critical Illness payout
You haven’t received a Critical Illness benefit under this policy in the past 6 months.
Not every situation is covered. You won’t qualify if:
• You lost your job within 30 days of coverage starting
• You knew job loss was coming when you signed up
• You were in seasonal work that ended as expected
• You’re part of a strike or lockout
• Your job loss was due to disability (that’s a separate benefit)
• You were fired for cause
• You’re on maternity, parental, or adoption leave
• You took family or caregiver leave
• You quit your job
• You’re dealing with criminal charges or are incarcerated
• You lost your job due to support payment issues
• You’ve retired
• Or anything else listed under “General Exclusions” in the policy
