Telus Bill Payment Protection: Unemployment & Maternity Leave
We often get questions from customers who are unemployed or on maternity/parental leave and want to know if they’re eligible for the Telus Bill Payment Protection Program (BPP).
👉 What’s Covered
- If you are employed and paying for BPP, and you later lose your job through no fault of your own, the program can cover your Telus mobile phone bill during your approved unemployment claim.
❌ What’s Not Covered
- Maternity or parental leave is not a covered event. Since it is considered a planned leave, the program will not cover your Telus bill during this period.
- If you are already unemployed at the time of enrollment, you will not be eligible to make an unemployment claim.
- The program does not cover Telus home services (internet, TV, home phone) or devices/equipment.
⚡ Key Point: Bill Payment Protection is designed to step in for unexpected events after you’ve enrolled, like losing your job through no fault of your own. Planned events, such as maternity/parental leave, are not eligible.
