🏠 What does “Owner” mean on the tenant insurance form?

If you’re filling out a tenant insurance form and see a section labeled “Owner,” you might wonder what it means — especially if you're a renter.

What does “Owner” mean in tenant insurance?

In this context, “Owner” refers to the person applying for and holding the tenant insurance policy — not the landlord or property owner.

So, if you’re the tenant getting coverage, you are the Owner of the policy.

Why does it say “Owner” if I’m just renting?

Although you're renting the unit, you're still the policyholder, which means the insurance is in your name. That’s why the form uses the word “Owner” — it's referring to ownership of the policy, not the property.

Information typically required under “Owner”:

Full legal name

Email address

Phone number

Date of birth

History of cancellations for non-payment

Confirmation of how long you've lived at the listed address

Still unsure who the Owner should be?

If you live at the property and are the one signing up for coverage, you’re the Owner.
If you're not sure who should be listed, reach out to us using the chat bubble in the lower-left corner — we're happy to help!
